- Ministry: Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
- Aim: To give momentum to the ‘sunrise’ fisheries sector through consolidated efforts from various schemes and initiatives.
- Coverage: All States and Union Territories.
- Objectives
- Achieve Blue Revolution through sustainable and responsible fisheries development.
- Enhance fish production and productivity via expansion, intensification, and diversification.
- Modernize and strengthen the value chain, improve post-harvest management and quality.
- Double incomes of fishers and fish farmers; generate employment.
- Increase fisheries’ contribution to agricultural GVA and exports.
- Provide social, physical, and economic security to stakeholders.
- Develop a robust management and regulatory framework.
- Umbrella Scheme: Components
- Central Sector Scheme (CS): 100% funded by the Centre.
- Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS):
- Non-beneficiary oriented activities (e.g., infrastructure, monitoring).
- Beneficiary oriented activities (e.g., support for individual fishers and groups).
- Target Beneficiaries
- Fishers, fish farmers, workers, vendors.
- SC/ST communities, women, differently-abled persons.
- SHGs, JLGs, cooperatives, federations, entrepreneurs.
- Fish Farmers Producer Organizations/Companies (FFPOs/Cs).
