  • Ministry: Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
  • Aim: To give momentum to the ‘sunrise’ fisheries sector through consolidated efforts from various schemes and initiatives.
  • Coverage: All States and Union Territories.
  • Objectives
    • Achieve Blue Revolution through sustainable and responsible fisheries development.
    • Enhance fish production and productivity via expansion, intensification, and diversification.
    • Modernize and strengthen the value chain, improve post-harvest management and quality.
    • Double incomes of fishers and fish farmers; generate employment.
    • Increase fisheries’ contribution to agricultural GVA and exports.
    • Provide social, physical, and economic security to stakeholders.
    • Develop a robust management and regulatory framework.
  • Umbrella Scheme: Components
    • Central Sector Scheme (CS): 100% funded by the Centre.
    • Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS):
      • Non-beneficiary oriented activities (e.g., infrastructure, monitoring).
      • Beneficiary oriented activities (e.g., support for individual fishers and groups).
  • Target Beneficiaries
    • Fishers, fish farmers, workers, vendors.
    • SC/ST communities, women, differently-abled persons.
    • SHGs, JLGs, cooperatives, federations, entrepreneurs.
    • Fish Farmers Producer Organizations/Companies (FFPOs/Cs).
