Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP)

  • Funding: Centrally Sponsored
  • Announced: Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) has been announced in the Finance Minister’s Budget Speech 2022.
  • Objectives
    • It focuses livelihood generation, road connectivity, housing, rural infrastructure, renewable energy, television and broadband connections.
    • This objective will be met by strengthening infrastructure across villages located near the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
    • Under the programme, residential and tourist centres will be constructed.

Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP-II)

  • Objective: Comprehensive development of border villages to enhance living conditions, create livelihood opportunities, improve internal security, and integrate border populations as allies to the security forces.
  • Goal: Contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 and ensure safe, secure, and vibrant borders.
  • Coverage: Strategic villages in 17 states and union territories including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, J&K, Ladakh, and others.
  • Implementation Period: Till 2028-29.
