Indian Monsoon: Differences between the Advancing and the Retreating Monsoons

Differences between the Advancing and the Retreating Monsoons
Factors of Comparison Advancing Monsoon  Retreating Monsoon
Wind Movement The Advancing monsoon winds blow from the sea to the land. The wind flows from the southwest to the northeast. The Retreating Monsoon winds blow from the land to the sea.
Moisture carrying capacity It transports moist winds. It provides the most rainfall in India. It delivers dry winds to India, although not as much as the Advancing Monsoon.
Rainfall Received The Advancing Monsoon brings rain to the majority of India. The Indian mainland receives less rain during the retreat of the Monsoon.
Monsoon Period The advancing monsoon in India begins in June and lasts through September. The retreating monsoon in India begins in October and lasts through November.
Distribution of the Monsoon In the case of the monsoon, winds reach India from the south in June and travel northward and cover the entire nation in a month. The Eastern Coast of South India receives rain from the retreating monsoon. The retreating monsoon gives abundant rainfall to the southeastern coast. Winds begin to withdraw from the Northern Plains during this monsoon as temperatures in the Northern Plains decline in October and November.
