- Expanding the Abbreviation: Coal Linkage for Seamless, Efficient & Transparent Utilization.
- What is it?: It is a recent policy reform by the Indian government to streamline coal linkages for industrial users and exports, enhancing energy security and domestic production utilization.
- Key Features:
- Linkages support own consumption, coal washing, group company use, or export (up to 50% of quantity), with no domestic resale allowed.
- Any domestic buyer requiring coal can participate, excluding coking coal.
- Existing auctions for specified NRS sub-sectors like cement, steel, sponge iron, aluminium, and captive power plants continue unaffected.
- Promotes washed coal production to cut imports and boost exports, aligning with Atmanirbhar Bharat.
