  • What is Euratom?
    • Euratom (European Atomic Energy Community) is an international organization established by the Treaty of Rome (1957).
  • Objectives & Purpose:
    • To create a common market for the development of peaceful uses of atomic energy among member states.
    • It coordinates research, ensures safeguards on nuclear materials, promotes safety standards, and distributes nuclear energy within the community.
  • Membership:
    • Originally six countries; now includes all EU member states.
  • India & Euratom
    • India and Euratom collaborate on peaceful uses of nuclear energy, research, radiation safety, and peaceful applications under bilateral agreements.
