• Olive Ridley Turtle
  • What is it?: It is the world’s smallest turtle found across the warm waters of the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian oceans.
  • What is Arribada?: They are best known for their unique mass nesting called Arribada.
  • Threats: Marine pollution and waste , Human Consumption and Fishing Trawlers.
  • Protection Status: WPA , 1972: Scheduled I ;  IUCN : Vulnerable
• Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary
  • Odisha’s Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary is known as the world’s largest rookery (colony of breeding animals) of sea turtles.
