Project Mausam
- What is it?: is an Indian government–led cultural diplomacy and maritime heritage initiative, launched in 2014.
- Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Culture
- Implementing Agency: Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in association with Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) and National Museum
- Coverage: Emphasises archaeological, historical, and cultural linkages developed through ancient maritime routes, covering 39 countries of the Indian Ocean region.
- Objectives:
- To document and study the diversity of interactions across the Indian Ocean through trade, religion and Cultural exchanges.
- To inscribe identified places and sites as trans-national nominations on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
- To promote multidisciplinary maritime research through International scientific seminars and Scholarly meetings.
- To foster understanding of common heritage.
