What needs to be known?

  • PSLV-C62 / EOS-N1 Mission
    • What is PSLV-C62?: It is the 64th flight of India’s PSLV aimed at launching the EOS-N1.
    • What is  EOS-N1 Mission: EOS-N1 is an Earth observation satellite intended for environmental monitoring, resource mapping, and disaster management.
  • Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)
    • What is it? It is a four-stage, medium-lift launch vehicle developed by ISRO to place satellites primarily into polar and sun-synchronous orbits (SSO)
    • Major Mission
      • Chandrayaan-1 (2008) – India’s first lunar mission
      • Mars Orbiter Mission – Mangalyaan (2013)
      • Cartosat, RISAT, Oceansat series
Satellite Orbits and Uses

  • Low Earth Orbit (LEO): Earth observation, Remote sensing, Weather monitoring, and Space stations.
  • Geostationary Orbit (GEO): Communication, TV broadcasting, Weather satellites.
  • Polar Orbit: Used for remote sensing & mapping
  • Sun-Synchronous Orbit (SSO): Ideal for environmental monitoring
