First Round Table Conference (1930)

  • The First Round Table Conference was officially inaugurated by King George V on November 12, 1930.
  • Ramsay MacDonald presided over the first Round Table Conference.
  • This was the first conference arranged between the British and the Indians as equals.
  • People who did not attend – Congress and the Indian Business Community.
  • Attended by 
    • Princely states 
    • Muslim League, Hindus, Justice Party, Sikhs, liberals, Parsis, Christians, Anglo-Indians, Europeans, representatives of the landlords, depressed classes, women, universities, Sindh, Burma, other provinces, and also the representatives from the Government of India.

Second Round Table Conference (1931)

  • It is considered as an after effect of the Gandhi – Irwin pact.
  • Participants 
    • Indian princely states
    • Government of India – C. P. Ramaswami Iyer, Narendra Nath Law, M. Ramachandra Rao
    • Congress – Mahatma Gandhi
    • Muslim League – Aga Khan III, Maulana Shaukat Ali, Muhammad Ali Jinnah
    • Hindus –  M. R. Jayakar, B. S. Moonje, Diwan Bahadur Raja Narendra Nath
    • Depressed Classes – B. R. Ambedkar, Rettamalai Srinivasan
    • Indian Christians – Surendra Kumar Datta, A. T. Pannirselvam
    • Women – Sarojini Naidu, Begum Jahanara Shahnawaz, Radhabai Subbarayan
    • Representatives of – liberals, Justice Party, Sikhs, Parsies, Labour, Universities and Industrialists,  were also present.
  • Outcome
    • Creation of North West Frontier Province and Sindh.
    • Communal Award.

Third Round Table Conference (1932)

  • Not Participated by – Indian National Congress and Gandhi
  • Participated by
    • Indian princely states
    • Depressed Classes – Ambedkar 
    • Anglo Indians – Nanak Chand Pandit, A. H. Ghuznavi, Henry Gidney
    • Labour Class  – N. M. Joshi
    • Women – Begum Jahanara Shahnawaz
