Himalayan Drainage System: Basics

  • Himalayan rivers are fed by the melting of snow and precipitation. So they are perennial in nature.
  • They are younger in nature.
  • Major relief features formed by these rivers are gorges, V shaped valleys, rapids, waterfalls as part of erosion. Ox – bow lakes, braided channel, and deltas are formed as part of deposition.

    2. Ganga River System
    3. Brahmaputra River System
