National Disaster Response Fund

  • In the event of a disaster, the state government is principally in charge of carrying out rescue, relief, and rehabilitation activities. However, on occasion, these efforts require strengthening and supplementation from the central government.
  • The National Disaster Response Fund’s mission does not include providing funding for disaster preparedness, repair, reconstruction, or mitigation in the case of a natural disaster.
  • Following the established procedure, additional Central assistance is provided from the National Disaster Response Fund in the event of a severe calamity where the required funds for relief operations exceed the funds available in the State’s Disaster Response Fund account.
  • In accordance with this procedure, the State Government is required to submit a memorandum indicating the sector-wise damage and required funds.
