Savitribai Phule was a social reformer who, along with her husband Jyotiba Phule were instrumental in empowering women.
- She established the country’s first school for girls, known as Bhide Wada, in Pune.
- She was an active member of Satyashodhak Samaj along with her husband, which endeavoured to mitigate the distress and sufferings of Dalits and women.
