Government of India Act of 1935
All-India Federation
: Proposed the formation of an All-India Federation with provinces and princely states as units.
Division of Powers
: Divided powers into three lists – Federal List, Provincial List, and Concurrent List; residuary powers were given to the Viceroy.
Provincial Autonomy:
Replaced dyarchy in the provinces with provincial autonomy, granting more self-governance to provinces.
Dyarchy at the Centre
: Introduced dyarchy (dual governance) at the central government level.
Bicameralism in Provinces
: Introduced bicameral legislatures in six out of eleven provinces.
Separate Electorates
: Continued separate electorates for depressed classes, women, and labour.
Council of India Abolished
: Abolished the Council of India, originally set up by the Government of India Act of 1858.
Establishment of Key Institutions:
Reserve Bank of India (RBI)
Federal Court for resolving disputes between the federal government and provinces
Public Service Commissions: Federal, Provincial, and Joint Public Service Commissions to oversee civil services.
