    • Early Relations: Diplomatic relations were established in 1947, shortly after India gained independence.
    • Migration: Indian migration to Canada began in the late 19th century, with a significant increase in the 1970s and 1980s.
    • Nuclear Tests: Relations were strained after India’s first nuclear test in 1974 and its second test in 1998, leading to Canadian sanctions.
  2. Political & Diplomatic Relations
    • Strategic Partners: Since 2015, India and Canada have been strategic partners, focusing on economic cooperation, defense, and technology.
    • Multilateral Engagements: Collaborate in UN, G20, Commonwealth, WTO, and Indo-Pacific forums.
