International Groupings: International Energy Forum

  • Established: in 1991 to promote cooperation between energy producers and consumers.
  • Secretariat: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
  • Objectives:
    • Foster dialogue between energy producers and consumers.
    • Improve global energy security and stability.
    • Facilitate sustainable energy solutions and development.
  • Membership:
    • Over 70 countries, covering 90% of global energy production and consumption.
    • There are 72 member countries of IEF including India.
    • The International Energy Agency (IEA) and Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) are non-voting members of the Executive Board.
  • Significance: It serves as a neutral facilitator of informal, open, informed, and continuing global energy dialogue among its member countries.
