Pithora Paintings

  • Location: Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh
  • Painted by tribal communities.
  • Characteristics 
    • It is said to serve a religious and spiritual purpose. 
    • They are painted on the walls of the houses to bring peace and prosperity.
    • Depiction of animals is common, especially horses.

Saura Paintings

  • Location: Odisha
  • They are similar to Warli paintings.
  • The Saura wall paintings are generally dedicated to Idital, the main deity of the Sauras. 
  • The painting is done mostly in white, while the backdrop of the painting is red or yellow. 
  • The colours are extracted from minerals and plants. 
  • The human shapes are geometric and stick like
